The Healing Nature of God

There is a critical aspect of health and healing that I think everyone needs to understand.  I have personally struggled with this topic and want to share some valuable insight I have learned.

On July 15th, 2011 a poll of 2,138 randomly selected people were asked what they would do to regain their health if threatened with something as serious as cancer.  Here are the results:

– Changed diet and lifestyle (76%)

– Prayer (22%)

– Doctors and Cancer Hospitals (1%)

– Chemo, Radiation or Surgery (1%)

There is no doubt that people are choosing to take responsibility for themselves in record numbers through changes in diet and lifestyle, but what about prayer?  There are a lot of praying people out there, and not all of them are seeing healing miracles.  Why not?  And what does the Bible say?

“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church: and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up… (James 5:14-15)

Jesus said to pray and we will be healed!  Have you ever questioned God when it came to answering prayers for healing?

How Does God Heal Us?

We must remember that God shows Himself in many ways.  He is the God of miracles, but He often takes a more subtle approach by introducing us to the right people or bringing us to the right place at the right time.  Ever get a word of encouragement at just the right time, or some money came in just when you needed it most?

We must also understand that God has established natural laws that govern the universe.  He created it right?  He created the earth, our body and everything in between.  Do you believe that if you walk off the edge of a cliff that you will fall?  That is the natural law of gravity.  God created that.

After God created Adam and Eve he placed them in the Garden of Eden.  God established natural laws for health and nourishment of our bodies.  He created an abundance of life giving foods that would sustain humanity throughout history.

Unfortunately, we have completely altered and changed our diet away from the nourishment created by God.  Instead, we are choosing processed, chemically created non-foods, far from the original design.

Therefore, the consequences of eating “non-food” are devastating, because it was not God’s original design!  It is contrary to the natural laws which God created for our food supply and our bodies!

Can God Still Heal Us?

YOU BET!  In fact, he wants to more than anything.  He wants you to cry to Him and ask for help.  He hears those prayers and very often answers them.  I have personally seen miraculous healings and I know they happen on a daily basis throughout the world!  We EXPECT them to happen because we have a great, powerful and amazing God who LOVES us more than we can ever imagine!

Natural Laws relate to our Physical Bodies

–  “Whatsoever a man soweth, that he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)

What you put in your body will determine your level of health!

–  “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6)

Knowledge is power.  Choosing not to change your diet and lifestyle in accordance with God’s natural laws will cause disharmony at some time during your physical lifetime.

–  “Satisfy your desires with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.”  (Psalm 103:5)

Good things are GOD things.  They are NOT man-made, processed (white flour, white sugar, white rice), growth hormone injected, genetically modified, chemically filled non-foods that come in packages, boxes and cans.

–  “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” (I Corinthians 6:19-20)

Want to fulfill your purpose in life and be an in-dwelling place for the Holy Spirit?  Your body must be pure and clean following God’s natural laws.  It is harder to serve God if you are sick, tired, on poisonous drugs and in and out of the hospital on a regular basis.

Ask yourself, “Will the food I am serving myself and my family contribute to their health or sow the seeds for sickness and life threatening illness?  Does this food follow God’s natural laws?

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And not be conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”  (Romans 12:1-2)
