What is cold laser Therapy?

Cold laser therapy, also referred to as Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), uses laser light set to wavelengths to stimulate healing and tissue regeneration. Cold laser is a non-invasive light source treatment that generates a single wavelength of light.

During a treatment regimen, a small device emitting a laser beam or visible non-thermal lasers is placed over the target area. The low levels of light penetrate the tissue without heating or damaging the skin.

How does cold laser Therapy work?

Cold Laser Therapy works by promoting collagen production and skin healing. The laser’s light is a wavelength that can reach your cells. Your cells respond to the light by speeding up repair functions.

Inside each of your cells, you have small organelles called mitochondria. You may remember these from high school biology class as “the powerhouse of the cell.”

When you expose your skin to this light wavelength, the mitochondria in your cells absorb that light and use it to create more energy. That extra energy helps your skin heal more quickly. When your skin registers the extra light from the laser therapy, it begins to create more collagen and elastin. As people age, they produce less collagen and elastin naturally. Many anti-aging treatments aim to increase collagen production because this helps the skin regain its youthful texture.
