Retail Assistant Branch Leader
Job Description
The Assistant Leader of the Retail Branch will assist the Retail Branch Leader in managing the branch and its daily administrative tasks and facilitating communication between leadership and employees as necessary. The Assistant Leader will help lead the Retail team in pursuing the vision and mission of Spirit of Health by supporting the Retail Leader and being a foundational component of the Retail Branch.
The Assistant Leader will be responsible for administrative tasks yet will still work closely with the staff on the retail floor to oversee, support, and empower them to succeed at their day-to-day tasks. They will be an ear to employees when concerns arise. They will show compassion and call employees higher using positive correction, finding the best in each employee. They will work to create excellence within the Retail team and lead by example in all areas.
The Assistant Leader’s main role is to ensure that the daily operations of the Retail Branch are running smoothly and efficiently. They will lead daily morning meetings to connect with Shift Coordinators and staff. These meetings will include assigning lunch times and specific job roles for the day, briefing the team on any housekeeping notes, and creating a plan for daily tasks. They will partner with the Shift Coordinators to delegate those daily tasks in order to determine the flow of the day. The Assistant Leader will be the one working closest with Shift Coordinators and will also be working on the Retail floor for a minimum of 20 hours per week. They will ensure that the Shift Coordinator is helping with the execution of assigned tasks to expectations set by management.
The Assistant Leader is responsible for performing monthly touchpoints with Retail staff and joining employee reviews at the Branch Leader’s discretion.
The Assistant Leader will perform all necessary tasks related to scheduling. This includes making the employee schedule each month and communicating with employees regarding their schedule, time-off requests, and time clock errors. Employees will correspond with the Assistant Leader if they are running late, sick, or dealing with an emergency hindering their ability to come to work.
The Assistant Leader will work with the Retail Branch Leader to help oversee the Retail store inventory processes, which include stocking shelves, the Warehouse Pull, shelving new products, and discontinuing products. They are responsible for streamlining, simplifying, and improving these systems when possible.
Job responsibilities for the Retail Assistant Branch Leader include, but are not limited to:
1) Management of Staff & Store: creates and manages employee schedules, including monthly schedules, office hours, time off requests, etc., conducts monthly one-on-one meetings with employees and assists the Branch Leader with employee reviews at the Branch Leader’s discretion, manages daily Retail tasks and works with the Shift Coordinator to delegate those tasks, works alongside the Retail staff throughout each day to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively, makes sure that annual, seasonal, monthly, and weekly management of building operations are being done properly, helps with drawer reconciling when no Shift Coordinators are on duty, takes responsibility to fill in if short on staff, delegates priorities to the staff each day based on the Retail Leader’s goals and priorities, runs the daily Retail meetings alongside the help of the Shift Coordinator.
2) Assistance of Branch Leader: plans with the Retail Branch Leader and implements changes to the structure, procedures, and processes when updates are necessary, supports the Retail Leader in communication from the staff and to the staff as well as other branches, oversees operations when the Retail Leader is gone and makes decisions as the head leader when the Retail Leader is out, helps the Branch Leader move projects forward in a timely manner.
3) Leadership & Culture: helps the staff succeed in their job, aids the staff in working through concerns and problems that arise, exemplifies availability and safety to help the staff when concerns or questions come up that the Shift Coordinators cannot handle or concerns regarding the Shift Coordinators arise, helps the Shift Coordinators work through customer concerns and issues that surface each day, leads the staff in the vision and mission of Spirit of Health through daily guidance, creates a culture of excellence to empower the staff to follow, supports the staff’s ability to pursue the core values of Spirit of Health by leading by example and inspires them to walk in the core values each day, trains and empowers the Shift Coordinators to lead with excellence, pursues growth in leadership as well as the ability to follow the Branch Leader.
Starting pay based on experience: $18 - $20 an hour.
