Cleansing Kidney Smoothie

Kidneys are the fluid waste system of the body. It's important to keep them healthy and clean so that they can filter waste properly. This smoothie is great if you're on our 21-Day Kidney Cleanse or as a morning smoothie for general kidney health.

We put this smoothie recipe together because cucumbers hydrate and detox the body. Lemons and limes are excellent for flushing waste out of the body and help alkalize it at the same time. Parsley is a diuretic so it stimulates the bladder, liver, kidney, digestive system, thyroid and stomach to work efficiently. Beets work as a blood cleanser, blood builder, liver/gallbladder cleanser and it also contains a good amount of iron for anemia.  The antioxidants in the flavonoids and polyphenols in apple juice can help detoxify the body of harmful substances. Finally, the olive oil is optional, and great for balancing blood sugars and providing some healthy fats, but it’s not necessary if you are doing a cleanse and are eliminating all fats.

 

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 peeled cucumber or 2-3 stalks celery
  • 1 apple
  • 1 thick beet slice (1" X 3")
  • Juice of 2 lemons or limes (or combination of both)
  • Handful or parsley
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil (optional)

 

Directions:

Blend all ingredients together and drink during meal times.
